GRACE VAN GERHAD ANSANAY, S.Pi.

Batch 38
Brawijaya University - Utilization of Fisheries Resources
Wamena - Papua

Every process in life brings various feelings and lessons, with hope always waiting at the end of the journey.

I, Grace Van Gerhard Ansanay, a PK2 Batch 38 alumnus from Jayapura, Papua, am very grateful to have been mentored for one year in the Christian Character Training (PK2) under the auspices of YKDE. I studied at Brawijaya University in Malang, majoring in Fisheries Resource Utilization.

During the PK2 training, I was shaped comprehensively through three main aspects: Spirituality, Education, and Character. For me, these three aspects are inseparable. Without Spirituality, life has no meaning; without education, I cannot be used by God to the fullest; and without good character, I cannot be a true witness. The values I received during the training are still very much alive in me today.

I currently serve while working as an Administrative Assistant at the MAF Base Wamena Foundation. Discipline, honesty, punctuality, planning, and a close relationship with God are the real assets that I continue to use in the workplace, especially in a ministry environment that demands high integrity. In my work, honesty is often tested. However, I have learned to work not for people, but for God, as written in Colossians 3:23. This value keeps me steadfast in every responsibility entrusted to me.

I highly recommend PK2 and YKDE to the younger generation. This training has helped me grow into a more mature, resilient, and balanced person—not only academically, but also in character and spirituality. I am grateful to be part of the YKDE family, whose relationships and values continue to thrive to this day.

Batch 37
UNESA - Curriculum and Educational Technology
Jakarta - DKI Jakarta

I am Alfianto Mugi, an alumnus of the YKDE Scholarship Program Batch 27 who is currently pursuing a professional career. I graduated from Surabaya State University (Unesa) with a concentration in Curriculum and Educational Technology. After completing my formal education, I underwent two years of spiritual training and served God full-time for one and a half years. Following this period of service, I made the significant decision to enter the professional field.

I work in the outdoor advertising industry, specifically in billboard and videotron media, with responsibilities in quality maintenance, which is notably different from my educational background. This career journey taught me that the ability to learn, adapt, and build character, which I gained while participating in the YKDE Scholarship Program, became the main assets in facing the dynamics of the working world, surpassing the suitability of my academic major alone.

As an alumnus of the YKDE Scholarship, for me, college was a strategic phase for expanding my capacity, not only academically, but also spiritually and in character building. Students are expected to be proactive in seeking knowledge, honing their skills, and preparing themselves to face rapid technological developments, including the challenges of artificial intelligence (AI). The training in the YKDE Scholarship Program is an important foundation for building steadfast faith and character amid various worldly temptations. In Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  This verse serves as a reminder that by prioritizing God, the path of life and career will be guided and provided for.

Batch 48
Satya Wacana Christian University - Management
Blitar - East Java

I am grateful to God for the great opportunity I have received to be part of the YKDE Scholarship program. The initial stage of this scholarship program was to attend Christian Character Training (PK2) in Lawang, Malang, East Java.

My experience during the PK2 training truly broadened my horizons and shaped me into a more open person who is willing to continue growing, both in personality, mindset, and spiritual life. Through this training, I was encouraged to train and balance myself in three main pillars, namely spirituality, education, and character.

The one-year mentoring process at PK2 has built a foundation of good habits that continue to greatly influence how I live my college life. At first, I went through various rules with a lot of adjustment and reluctance. However, over time, I began to understand the value of each process. Now, I actually enjoy college life while remaining committed to discipline and a proper spiritual life. This training has helped me stay focused on my studies and avoid unhealthy social circles. I am deeply grateful for the role of the YKDE Scholarship through PK2 in shaping the foundation of my life.

My hope is that more young people will be nurtured through the YKDE Scholarship—not only in terms of educational development, but also in character building and spiritual growth.

Batch 39 (2015 - 2016)
Airlangga University - Sociology
Berastagi - Medan

For me personally, it is very difficult to find a scholarship that is as complete and good as this. Because, these three pillars are my needs as a young person, student, and of course for a better future. This turned out to be after graduating and completing the entire program, when I came face to face with society, the world of work, and the scope of services. Having never been coached by the three pillars through the FLATS scholarship program, I felt that this day would exist a great deficiency in my life, and will cost me dearly today and in the future.

While participating in the FLATS scholarship program through all the facilities and assistance, I was able to graduate early, namely three years and nine months, and obtained a Cumlaude GPA. The seriousness of this program to help young people is also a blessing for me personally, because from here I can study at one of the best universities in Indonesia. That is also what encouraged me to now continue my Master's education.

During college I also took part in an international event, namely The 4th Student's Seminar on Malaysia - Indonesia Relations [International Relations in Southeast Asia] at Trengganu University, Malaysia. At that time, I brought a paper entitled "Glocalization and Middle, Small, and Micro ndustry Product Increasement Efforts".

In the spiritual aspect, thanks to God I was able to attend International College Training in Asia twice, that time in Malaysia and Korea.

Batch 39 (2015 - 2016)
UNESA - Civil Engineering / Building Engineering Education
Jayapura - Papua

There were various experiences I had while receiving the FLATS scholarship from Yayasan Kaki Dian Emas. This scholarship not only helped pay for my education, but also shaped my character and built my spiritual human foundation. During my 7 years of experience as a FLATS scholarship recipient, I experienced so much assistance that shaped my personality, so I said that these 7 years were the time when my scholarship was fulfilled.

I felt very proud when I graduated from this scholarship, the impact I felt as an alumni, I could be a blessing wherever I was. The sentence in front is not an essay, but is a statement of appreciation that comes from the mouths of my family, my co-workers where I work as a building engineering teacher in Jayapura and a mentor at the Children's Potential Development Foundation. This shows in my character, politeness, toughness, and the power of cooperation, being able to capture and implement information, being responsible, and of course leading a constant spiritual life, as well as sharing the gospel of God's word with courage and joy.

The impact that I am most grateful for is my family, especially my father, through me sharing the Word, my father, who previously did not go to church or worship, was able to return to worship gatherings and even really liked the Bible. This is a great joy, one that I really feel. Praise God, all glory to God. Grace and peace from the Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen.
